Keeping Older Residents Safe At Home, One Visit at a Time

The Handyman is a one man crew by the name of Joe, who for many years has been helping older residents keep their home environments in safe, secure, working order. The next time you need a trusted professional to fix a small home repair, call the Handyman Program.

How The Handyman Program Works

  • Free labor is provided for small home repairs for Genesee County residents 60 years and older.

  • People live in their own homes or rent and have landlord approval.

  • Most participants will need to pay for material costs.

  • Up to five (5) Handyman visits per household per year are offered.

Some Additional Household Repairs the Program does:

  • Installs shelving

  • Repairs windows

  • Fixes drywall

  • Changes light bulbs and installs light fixtures

  • Don’t see your repair listed? Just call and ask!

Repairs The Handyman Program can NOT do:

  • Extensive Plumbing

  • Extensive Electrical Work

  • Exterior Painting or Siding

  • Major Painting or Plastering

  • Major Roofing jobs

  • Generally, jobs that require more than a couple days to complete.
